Our Leaders of Tomorrow
We see the youth of today as our leaders of tomorrow and actively support a range of youth program’s. These include, RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Program). This is a seven-day leadership program for 18 – 25 year old’s. RYLA District 9510
RYPEN is a three-day leadership and development program for 14 – 17 year old’s. We also support the National Youth Science Exchange, the One and All sailing program via our Youth Sailing project is another program that we actively support in our club.
RYEA, our members also host international students through the Rotary Youth Exchange program.
Interact is another youth program we are getting involved in, we are in the process of setting up an Interact program in one of the local secondary schools. Interact is a service club for youth ages 12 to 18 who want to connect with other young people and have fun while serving their community and learning about the world.
Youth Leadership
Rotary Youth Leadership Program is a seven-day leadership program for 18 – 25 year old’s. An amazing program focusing on personal development, leadership topics such as conflict resolution, public speaking and mental health.
We have been actively sponsoring participants to the RYLA program now for years. Meeting at Rosie Erasmus’s home. Rosie the current president of RCOG was the RYLA Administrator two years in a row.
Career Development
National Youth Science Forum Runs a number of programs to encourage young people in their passion for Science.
It’s a 12 day program for year 12 students designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in this field. RCOG has and continues to raise funds and sponsor participants.
Youth Leadership – One And All Program
We proudly support youth development through our Youth Sailing Project where we encourage young people to take part in an unforgettable sailing experience aboard the One and All tall ship. Participants not only learn the skills of traditional sailing but also build leadership, confidence, and teamwork through hands‑on maritime adventure.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Glenelg sponsors a young person to join this transformative voyage, helping them grow, connect, and discover their potential out on the open water. This program reflects our commitment to empowering youth and providing opportunities that inspire personal growth and resilience.
Youth Exchange – RYEA
The Rotary Youth Exchange Australia (RYEA) Long‑Term Exchange program offers Year 10–12 students an extraordinary opportunity to live abroad for a full year and immerse themselves in a new culture. Hosted by Rotary families overseas, students experience a different lifestyle, learn a new language, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
The Rotary Club of Glenelg has a proud history of active involvement in this program and continues to support students as they embark on this life‑changing journey. Through Youth Exchange, we help young people build confidence, resilience, and global awareness – qualities that shape future leaders and strengthen international goodwill..
