The Rotary Club of Glenelg is a hands‑on service club committed to creating lasting change where it matters most. We don’t just talk about service — we roll up our sleeves and get involved.

Chartered on 25 April 1952, the Rotary Club of Glenelg has proudly served our community for over 70 years. We are:

Community Support

We are deeply involved in supporting people and families across our local community through initiatives including:

  • Delivering meals to the elderly in the Glenelg area through Meals on Wheels
  • Providing meals, groceries, and support at St Andrew’s and St Peter’s Churches
  • Donating Santa Sacks to families and individuals in need
  • Supporting Foodbank to help supply food for those experiencing hardship
  • Sponsoring Aqua wheelchairs, enabling people with physical challenges to enjoy the sea
  • Supporting mobile shower services for people experiencing homelessness
  • Supporting the Days for Girls organisation
  • Sponsoring local domestic violence support organisations
  • Chairing the Rotary SA Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Committee
  • Cooking and fundraising at community barbecues, including Airport Bunnings, Coles Glenelg, and the Glenelg Ice Cream Festival
  • Providing the Father Christmas float for the Glenelg Christmas Pageant

Environmental Action

We are committed to protecting and enhancing our local environment through:

  • Beautification of the Brighton Railway Station
  • Beach litter control through SA’s “Adopt a Spot” program
  • Roadside litter control via KESAB’s “Road Watch” program

International & Humanitarian Support

Our impact extends beyond Australia, supporting vulnerable communities worldwide through:

  • Assisting migrants in need with shopping support and social outings
  • Sponsoring students at St Jude’s School in Africa
  • Supporting Rotary Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC)
  • Providing ShelterBox disaster relief for communities impacted by emergencies
  • Supplying school books through Supporting Filipino Helping Hands for a Better Society
  • Supporting Days for Girls to deliver health education and medical supplies globally
  • Supplying Peace Poles to local schools
  • Providing portable wheelchairs for those in need

Youth & Leadership Development

We invest in the next generation by creating opportunities for young people to grow, lead, and thrive:

  • Running the One and All Youth Sailing Project, where participants develop leadership, resilience, teamwork, and sailing skills aboard the iconic tall ship
  • Sponsoring young leaders to attend RYLA and RYPEN camps
  • Hosting international students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme
  • Sponsoring students to attend the National Youth Science Experience
  • Presenting local school‑based citizenship and achievement awards
