Last Sunday, the Adelaide community gathered at Wigley Reserve for the Dementia Run, coming together in support of those impacted by dementia and to raise awareness for this important cause.
The event welcomed participants of all ages and abilities, with people walking, jogging, and running in solidarity. It was a meaningful morning filled with reflection, connection, and community spirit, as families, carers, friends, and supporters honoured loved ones and stood alongside those living with dementia.
The event was further strengthened by the participation of South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, who attended the Dementia Run and spent time engaging with the community. During the morning, the Premier stopped to have a chat with members of the Rotary Club of Glenelg, acknowledging the important role community organisations play in supporting causes such as dementia awareness and advocacy.
The Rotary Club of Glenelg generously supported the event by hosting a popular sausage sizzle, providing a welcoming space for participants and spectators to gather, refuel, and connect after the run.
Their involvement reflected the strong community spirit behind the event and highlighted the impact local service groups have in bringing people together for meaningful causes.
Dementia continues to affect countless individuals and families across Australia.
